Cold start idle

87 165ecm,32B-6E and reworking PCFormless chip.

Have been having trouble datalogging for awhile but story for another day.
Until connection problems have been able to get tune running (Pretty) good.
Have gotten AE on start up with MR where I want it- 2 cranks and fires rite up, cold or not.
Idle after warm up set rite where I want it. (975), with
cam I'm running.
Been using coolant temp to idle to get it.
Have it set to 1300 until warmed up or CL before coming
down to 975. But have to play with throttle until about
160F until it comes up to 975 where it idles perfect. No surging or problems.

What other areas I'm I overlooking to get higher cold start
idle without feathering the throttle till warm or CL

Hate to mess up setup when warmed up.
No matter how high I set initial rpm for cold start, same result.

Thanks

Re: Cold start idle

Is your IAC working? Can remove it, connect the wires again, and have a friend key on and off, and you make sure to push on the nose before it spits out of the motor body.

When warm, at good A/F and spark, set throttle blades to get about 10 IAC steps and 975 RPM.

Next step (when engine is cold again) is to calibrate the IAC park steps to get to correct desired RPM (watch actual IAC steps while running, and place those numbers in the table at each coolant temp), and make sure the A/F and spark are suitable (a little rich (13-13.8 is pretty OK - with AIR disabled, and wideband before the cat(s)), and maybe a few extra degrees of advance).

Re: Cold start idle

You could try to add fuel with "startup enrich vs coolant". I hd to add a little to mine to make it idle better.

Re: Cold start idle

Thanks for suggestions and will work on recommendations.

Been having trouble with datalogging for a few months
and not really persude it to hard.
Have to get it datalogging again before fooling with it.
APU1 and TPRT. All settings correct. Will connect at 160
Baud but garbage info. Worked great for a while at 8192
with 6E.
No wide band here and (Was told), Car done and running,
No more funds available for project.

Just thought maybe there was one item in 6E other than
coolant to idle would work.
Never that simple.
