Re: more issues in tunerpro RT with data log

Have you set up the proper port in TP RT?

Tools>Prefernces>ALDL/Emulation

Click on Test for valid ALDL cable using settings.

If you get a not found or functional error, try another port until you do.

You can also go

Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager
To see what ports and thier corresponding numbers are to change settings in TPRT.

I believe you also have to install the FTDI drivers for the cable. I already had these drivers installed on my computer for my Ostrich before getting my Moates ALDL cable, so I can't verify if this step is needed for the ALDL cable.

And make sure no other applications have your interface's serial port locked up (e.g. trying more than one logging application at the same time won't work).

You did apply the new settings in TPRT ALDL set-up, correct?

And you're using the proper definition? If using it with your '88, is the 10K resistor in place? It needs to be.

Although I'm not sure it'll help, download the latest version and re-check for your cable in preferences.

Anyway, I thought it would be nice to have th enewets version of Tuner Pro RT (v 4.14.0365), so I downloaded it and installed it.

I decided I would verify my cables, to make sure my Serial port works on this laptop, I have bought another one recently that the serial port didn't function.

I plugged in my home made max232 based ALDL cable, went to tools>prefernces>ALDL/Emulation and clicked on the test for valid cable. no go. So I tried com2, no go. Hmm.

I then tried my USB ALDL cable, a Moates.com ALDL Extreme, tried a couple com ports, then decided to check my device manager, to expedite the task, and saw com 6. So I tried that in TP RT, and nothing, even tried a couple other ports, still nothing.

I figured I would try the version that came on my Moates disc, 4.14.0030.00, BAM! Sees both cables (tried them at different times, unplugged one before plugging in the other).

So I figured I would use the check for updates function of TP RT, thinking that maybe going through the program would change something. Lost connection to the ALDL cables, both of them. Removed the new version again, which for some reason did not show in my start menu, so I removed it via add/remove programs in my Control Panel, and re-installed the older version, and again I am back to seeing both cables.

Is there anything that I may have missed? I wouldn't think that there would need to be any extra seetings to change for the new release, that and I don't see any settings that may need to be set, that don't need to be in the older version.

Does anybody have any copies of the releases between the two I have? .0030 and .0365. I wouldn't mind trying a newer version to try and find where this possible bug started.
What does "see" mean? The cable test? It could very well be broken. However, that's unrelated to the problem in this thread.

EDIT: I've just fixed the ALDL cable test. Re-download TunerPro from the site in about 5 minutes and you'll get the fix. NOTE: this does not solve the problem Steve is seeing (1227165 monitoring/logging works fine for me).

Re: more issues in tunerpro RT with data log

Yeah, see = validate both cables as found and functional.

I was sent the next release after 0030 (0323), at least that's what I am told, so I am going to install it and see where I get.

It may be unrelated or it may be related, as datalogging or ALDL connection seems to be an issue for a lot of people.

Re: more issues in tunerpro RT with data log

Hey Guys Im new to this forum, but it's got some great info.

Im having a similar problem. I can start TunerPro RT, and check for the serial cable, and it finds it. Then I try to connect to the car and it won't. After I try to connect I can go back into preferences and check for it again and it wont find it.
I have no clue where to go from here Ive tried everything I know.

Mine was doing that as well. Unfortunatly I never did figure out the specific problem, the laptop I had that problem with was not mine, and would have to give it back eventually anyway, so I decided it was time for me to buy another one of my own. The old PII IBM laptop with Win98SE wasn't quite enough to do what I needed, and the serial port didn't function either. It's going to be strictly a back up Laptop.

My problem also started AFTER I had already connected and datalogged a few times over a few weeks, then just randomly stopped connecting.
