whacky contact in ECM?
hi all
car is a 1990 vette with the 727 ECM...
im uses the moates chip adapter with a ZIF-socket.
sometimes, when i insert a new chip, i get the SYS message, so, Prom failure..
then, i whiggle around a bit (chip/adapter assy) and it clears...
i also tried a different adapter, still the same..
i think, the connection ECM/adapter is the culprit, should i resolder all connections of the socket in the ECM?
thank you

Typically it's the zif socket.
But with all that wiggling you've done.......
Over here, most of us would throw in the backup ecm to see if it goes away.

i sometimes get that too, mainly when i ease the lever down.
when i swap my chip, most of the time i flip the ZIF lever so the spring snaps the ZIF closed.

hi and thank you
wiggling..maybe i used the wrong word, i dont do this with excessive force, just a slight movement..
i have a spare ECM, so i will try and test this...
are the ZIF´s so problematic?
thank you
