NOOB with moates stuff.... trying to view chip contents with tunerpro
ok, I am really new to this,
I am trying to read the stock chip from a 91 RS, I downloaded the LO3 and LO5 .xdf file from the tunerpro site and when i put it all together in tunerpro, alli get is a bunch of tables full of zeroes.
I read the stock chip as a 27sf512, I beleve the stock chip is a 2732, but i'm not sure. When i select 2732a as a chip type, it wont read, however, it says it is reading with several of the cips available.
Then I save the buffer as a file, and try to open it in tunerpro. no go.
I load the xdf file, and it does SOMETHING, but when i click on each option, (like the VATS or Main Fuel Table) the window that pos up is all blank! I tried another chip made for the same ecu, with similar results.
Is this because I am using the wrong definition? wrong chip type? I can see several ways this may not be working right.
Plus now its been so long I cant remember which way to reinstall the chips into the holder...... sigh.....

i looked at this
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...xdf-files.html
it looks like others have had similar issues... I assume I have the $61 ecm listed for use with lo3 and lo5 applications, thats what a TBI 305 is right? an lo3?
I do not have the car handy, so I can't really check it, but would it be safe to assume i have this ecm, right?
And why wont BURN1 read the chip when i put it on 2732a, i read thats the 24 pin chip used in this application!

Make sure you put the chip in the burner the right way. I had this problem with my 27SF512's (not your chip). dot on top, place bottom pins of chip in the bottom slots of the burn1.
hth
-in other words, if you were holding the burn1 in your hand, the lowest pins of the chip should be in the last available slots on theburn1, closet to your wrist.
I don't want to sound dumb, but I couldn't figure it out for 3 hours...lol

yeah i wondered if maybe i had mis-installed the chip.... looks like the little divot in the end is pointed the right way, and the first pins are all the way down at the bottom in the socket.
Someone said in that other post that results like mine are usually from a mismatched definition file, but i downloaded it from tunerpro's website so it should be good.
----------
i figured out the chip holder though, lol

THe burner will say 'chip is blank' or 'chip not blank' or 'write successfully' when the chip is installed incorrectly. firsthand knowledge
When you start flash n burn, does it acquire the hardware? I assume it does.
which end of the burn1 is the notch facing? the end with 'BURN1' or the bottom. humor me, plz

the notch was facing north, but get this, i start randomly bumbling with some of the chip addresing stuff, and it told me that i had inverted some value.... then i switched back to the 2732a setting, and boom it reads it great....
Problem solved....(though i am uneasy with solutions that dont involve learning something for next time....)

weird. good thing it worked out. I was one angry muldoon when it wasn't working for me. Imagine yourself working two weeks straight swapping a new engine, exhaust, you name it- then getting ready to burn your new motor's chip and the damn thing won't read right. i was pissed. All i had to do was look at the burn1 and put 2 and 2 together...lol
good stuff, and yes, odoyle rules!! lol
