Mallory Unilite distributor
I'm pretty sure the answer is "It can't be done" but I thought I'd ask to see what you all think.
I have a Mallory Unilite distributor that I used when I had the carb on... for the conversion I stuck the old, worn out OEM distributor in it to get it running and get some initial tune done.
Now I need to upgrade my ignition. I'd like to find a way to use the Unilite but can't find a way to get it to send a signal to the ecm. It just has the plain old 3-wire type hook up.
Any thoughts on this?
My most likely option is to go DIS... I'm currently running 8D and need to do some research to see which program(s) to use on my 727. I know there is a huge thread on this so I'm going to start reading.
Thanks

"To mix and match Mopar, Ford, and GM distributor pickups, see "Dr's Guide to Optimizing your Ignition System" (also known as "Performance Ignitions Systems" by C hristopher Jacobs, PH.D., E.E.--ISBN 1-55788-306-8). "

Where you'd normally have the coil connected, instead use a 1K resistor and LED. Feed the ~1.5v from across the LED into the GM ignition module, ie where the reluctor would attack. With no other electronics attached, raise the engine RPM, and you should see a few degrees of advance (to check polarity across the ignition module).
