car starting with no memcal
today i was talking to someone who swore up and down that i could start my car that im converting to speed density even though i dont have the memcal for it yet. he said it will start without a chip, i wasnt done yet but he said it would work. we were at his house later and he showed me on his car that if he took the memcal out of the 165 computer the car would start with no chip. can this hurt anything? i wouldnt want to damage anything on the computer or what not. can i go out and start it right now or should i just wait until i get a chip in the morning?

I cannot say about the MAF 165, but my SD 7730 will not start without the Memcal in it. It has VATS, and if you remove the Memcal the engine will just "crank and crank" but it will NOT start.

Since 89 also has VATS, my car will do the same thing...just crank and crank all day long.

Is there a posted tutorial (Besides Mike Davis' excellent one)?
