Startup spark advance
I see in tuner cat where there is a table for start up spark advance. When I try to restart my car after its up to temp, I have a labored crank typical of a high compression engine. Its only when hot so I am assuming that start up timing advance might need tweaked. However, my start up spark advance table is all zeros for the temperatures that give me a problem. What other table affects start up spark advance? Also, would the Closed TPS spark advance vs. RPM paly a part in start up spark advance? If it does then I could get my result from that table. I thought I'd ask first before experimenting.
Thanks,
Jason

Is the starter straining to turn the engine over (running slower), or is it just taking longer to fire the engine up? If it's option 1, then you need a new/better starter. If it's option 2, see the thread on ARAP crank time and the fix for that. Closed TPS spark advance is only used when the engine is running (not being started) and the throttle is closed (at/near 0% TPS). Helps in changing the timing at idle (and when you get off the gas while moving) w/out having to modify the main spark advance table.

Greg, I am running the 7730 ECM with a modified 90 vette bin. The car fires right away but it strains. I just had the starter rebuilt and the battery is fairly new. When cold it turns over very easy. If I let the car get up to temp and then shut it off, the temp rises about 30 degrees to about 220 from heat soak. That's when it seems to be labored.

I get the same thing with my 165 ECU running the 891LE.bin
it definently feels like the timing is advanced too far when cranking the engine

I just had a similar problem with mine. It would turn really slow when it was hot. Felt just like the timing was to far advanced. The chip tuner turned the cranking timing back and it still did it.
Turned out my battery was weak, I installed a new one with 900+ cranking amps. Havent had a problem sense. It never gave me a problem with the 350 always started right up hot or cold. The 406 has around 11.1 so that probably wasnt helping.
