pocket programmer problem....

Well, I haven't given up yet. The programmer will read the chip, winbin will edit it, and the eraser erases it, then the PP will not recognize that the chip is erased. any ideas?

Is the chip a 27Cxxx? If so, make sure you are exposing it to the UV eraser for a long enough time. I erase mine for a minimum of 10 minutes.

Does it happen with just this one chip? If so, the chip is probably bad.

Have you ever been able to program a chip with this PP? If not, then you might need to get the PP serviced.

Just my $0.02 worth.

I am using a 27c256. I sent the 2 memcals I have to a guy who checked them and they were erased. The PP is new, which leds me to think I am doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out.

Do you have the PROM in the PP socket correctly? This also happened to me until I realized that I had the PROM in the 32 pin position instead oh the 28 pin position.

OK, I inserted the adapter exactly like the little diagram has it and it still says it is not erased. Any other ideas.
