It's still on the books. Have to make some more progress on around-the-house projects before the wife gives me much free time for a while.
When (hate to say if) I get the effort rolling, it will be such that a V or m500/505 should work fine. I'll plan to do the beta-testing on my V.
By the way, if anyone is relatively proficient in Palm-based application development, and wants to get a start on the C++ core, that would be a great help. Anything to get me started. Just take a stab and we can go from there. Anything is better than what I have right now.

It'll be serial. I think the M500/505's come standard with USB. Might want to see about getting the serial adapter and some kind of 12v-based supply. If you get no supply, that would probably be OK, but unless someone can get things working off of the USB then a serial adapter would be needed, come time...

Well, the Palm takes a different voltage, need to convert from 12V to whatever it needs. There are adapters available for charging, I assume something for power can be rigged up to a patch cable which will double as a serial port for the car...

The plug on the AKM cable Id guess is to power the cable itself. (So you dont have to tap a 12v sorce like some other cables)
Are you refering to powering the PalmTop? IF so Id imagine that the batterys would do the job for a awhile??

I'd tend to agree. The batteries should be fine for a good while. But If we want to power the interface from the PALM port, then we could get power-hungry. Plus, with constant com port activity, I don't know, maybe it would eat up more current. Just trying to plan ahead, but hey, horse before cart, right?

Verry true, Ive made battery adapters for my laptop befor to plug into the lighter also. I would prob just do the same for a palmtop. Would work great. Thats how I have my 386 now. and It has No problems running.
