4 diffrent chips for a 86 5-speed which should I use for the swap (please help)
I swapped in a 5 speed for my auto a few years ago, I finaly found a computer from the same exact car as mine execpt this one was a orignal 5 speed car. The tranny I put in the car is from a 88 iroc not a 86 but that should not matter. The chip in my car was a ffa, and the new one is a anw. The computers are the same, this chip matches up to a m39 5 speed car, there is one other chip for a m39 car and 2 for a mc4 tranny. What is the diffrences? CAn my car go in to closed loop in with the auto car? thanks

You should use the "standard transmission" eprom with a "standard car". Standards tend to have slightly different spark tables.
I don't believe using an Auto eprom will trigger an SES code as there is no "feedback" when it attempts to "lock" the TCC.

I'd say to just give it a try. The only difference in the chips may be rear end gear ratio? Maybe california chip?
You can always put the auto chip back in.

I also swapped a 88 t-5 for the stock 700 r4 in my 86 IROC.I used the auto chip for over a year. It ran ok but it never did seem right. Now that I have been burning my own proms it runs 1000% better.
