What ECM to start with?
I'm getting the parts together to put TBI on a 400 sbc/TH400. I see there is a lot of support/ info on the '7747 and I've got a '8747 [heavy duty version of the '7747] with the wiring harness and throttle body. But while I'm reading up on the 7747, I see treads on re-pinning 1227747 to 1227730, or to a 16168625.
Sooooooooooooo my question, is am I wasting my time putting in a 1228747 [with a different prom, I.E. prominator or ostrich etc,], or it be good enough the run this motor.
I know faster ECM's have input from the electronic tranny, Vss , control elect fans, none of which I have, so it seems are would be more things to disable, other than the knock sensor and the egr.
This info overload just has me all confused over which direction to go
Thanks
Bob

Consider an Embedded Lockers (EBL) ECM. Uses a stock C3 TBI ECM such as the '7747, '8746, '8747 (and a bunch of others) and converts it to an ECM that has superior code (the BIN), great data logging, documentation; so that you end up with a engine that runs that way it should. With the optional 4-injector upgrade can even run dual 2bbl TBI units or a 4bbl TBI unit.

Thanks for the reassurance on the '8747 ECM.
I had been planning on getting this package, so I could flash the proms on two different vehicles.
APU1 AutoProm Package: USB Version [APU1] - $325.00 : Moates.Net
I know the prominator and the ostrich stay in the ECM so they would be more expensive to do a couple cars, but once I get the autoprom, I would on have to buy chips which are fairly cheap.
Now I've seen the EBL mentioned a lot, but when I search for EBL, I got a lot of reading to do. I tried looking in the stickies under hardware for it, but since its relatively new , I couldn't find any info. I dont know if this is the same one because I found it on a cifferent site.

Can you recommend any good threads or search words to learn more about the EBL, and where else I could get them at?
Thanks for the education

The link(s) you show are correct. Currently there are no other distributors for the EBL product. There is a thread here on tuning with the EBL. A little long but gives some insight to the product:

The 8747 ECM is actually has a Definition file on the Moates site. It is the 4F code, a 350 .BIN is available as AKWA (1 ton van). AWKA actually has the TCC logic/code setup to run the downshift relay for the TH400.
