BIN FOR 92 3.1 MT
does anyone know what this one is named?. I went to the dealer and they wanted 50 bucks just to hook up the scan tool to get the freggin bin number!. They want to charge me for a "computer code check & tune up" I know that's a load of crap. I told the guy all I want is the code number and thats it and he still said it'l be 50 bucks. I said no thanks.

If its the bin from your current car(which I'm assuming it is), just drop your computer from the dash and open the case to check for yourself. It should be listed right on the prom itself, under the protective blue memcal cover.

Engine: 82 FBod LG4 305, 730 ECM
Transmission: M20
Axle/Gears: 4.10
BWAX = BCC, the prom calibration code
6865 = scanner ID code? almost positive
and 2L2028.= no bloody clue on this one
16045915 = prom part # from GM
AD27C256 =prom part # so you can order a new one when you can't erase this one anymore..btw, I don't think GM sells them but electronic stores do.
E 5012AC U147003MC = other things I have no clue on

ok is is whats goin on now... I have atty, atzy I forget which. I have the "clinder select" at 192=6(this is in the "values" tab. Does this mean this is the setting for the V6? I have the "prom setting" at 6865. I am still lost but am I at least making progress?

Could you give us some additional information. What are the codes on the white sticker on the ECM? This will allow us to identify it and possibly run an alternate calibration (like $8D with a 6 cylinder select).
But I need to see if you have a 7730. That is on the sticker. Just give me ALL the numbers on the white sticker on the ECM.
Also, what is your car? Year/model etc.

I see no reason then why you can't just run a modified version of the $8D BIN for TPI cars. You MAY have to repin the ECM, but I don't think so.
The Cylinder Select should be x'C0 or d'192 as you mentioned.
You could start with a 305 TPI SD 5-speed bin to start and change the cylinder selct also to d'192.

Glenn, there are a few differences. Things like AC control, air valves, egr control. I have a wiring diagram somewhere and it had a few things changed. The major things are the same, injectors, sensors, timing, etc. I'm sure there is a wiring diagram somewhere on DIYEFI. If not I'll post one as I have access to them at work.

I think you should check that again. It should actually be a BAWX, not BWAX.
I am currently doing quite a bit of work on the 3.1 VIN T's, so the info I have gathered thus far may be of some use in your future endeavors. If anyone has any hacks, .ecu files, etc. for this application or other 3.1 V6's, I would welcome your submittal's to the gmecm ftp site. Already asked that a few times, but it cant hurt to try.

Since the ECMs are the same, the driver's for the other devices exist. As we analyze this deeper, there may be some of those that Camaro_hunter_D would like to wire up. Also, within the BIN, there is usually a some constant enabling the device based generally on coolant temp. This is how I turned off the AIR Diverter for a friend with a 383 Miniram and removed his.
Now that TunerCat has released their new verision that can support more constants, I can assist by defining more constants (old version limited you to 50 and I hit the max)and forwarding the changes to TC so everyone can use it.
PS: Yeah, I noticed that BAWX BIN too. I am going to scope it out and see if it is for a V6.

If you look at the hack of the azty bcc, you will note that most of the tables locations differ greatly from those of the $8D V8.
I have already worked with the Turbo Grand Prix 3.1 code enough to create my own .ecu file, and it actually has a lot more parameters available than anything else I have seen thus far for the V6. The TGP code is much closer to the 3.1 Camaro/bird V6 than any V8 bin I have looked at. Just my $1/50, but starting from a V8 definition is not the approach I would take.

OK why is it when I go to that GMECM thing I go to the '7730 and click it, but only the 2.8 V6 pops up? I would think that the 2.8-3.1 would be different. I see alot of 8d and what not... I take it these are the bin id#'s...

IF you have ftp client software (cuteftp, bullet proof ftp, etc) you can access the gmcem site and pullup the directory. Much of the directory structure of the ftp site will not allow access by web browser due to the naming conventions used. I would have just sent the bin file to you, but you do not disclose an email address.
The bin file itself would not be of much use without a definition (.ecu , .tdf , etc.) file. Should not be too hard to put one together tho, the hack of the azty bcc would be a very good base to start from.

Ok these sites are getting on my nerves something fierce. I can go to the FTP site through Gozilla. I STILL CANNOT GET THE FREGGIN 3.1 BIN. I CAN FIND THE 2.8. I am starting to get VERY pissed!.
I downloaded FTP explorer and I cannot connect to the site at all. I type in diy-efi.ftp and the screen goes blank. If any have the bin you can email it to me at emerald_iles@yahoo.com

OK I got the BIN thanks to MIKE. But now what do I have to do to get the "PE" to kick in sooner?. I know I can set the RPMs for it but I want it to go more by the TPS input. I have a tendancy to cruise at 70-80 MPH on the highway so I do not want it kicked in while I am cruising.
How exactly do I get the timing to change to a less retard curve? And advance a little sooner?.

Remember more is not always better with timing. It's way to easy to be too rich, with too much timing and be slower then when you started.
