How to disable limpe home mode?

How can I disable the limp home mode swithout sending the ecm into a frenzy.

My engine is too different from any stock application so I would rather have the thing not run at all. I have a 3.1 memcal out of a 730. I also have a memcal out of a 90 3.1 Lumina 727. I'm foing to use the 727 ecm, so it doesn't really matter which memcal I use right. this way I have a spare if I mess something up.

Thanks

only way i know of is to remove the NETRES from the MEMCAL, which may be tricky because of the knock part of the MEMCAL.
a small pair of wire cutters to clip the legs of the NETRES may work to remove it.

Won't that cause the ecm to freak out and possibly cause it not to work at all?

i don't think it will.
i had the wrong MEMCAL on my adapter once & it ran ok, but i was getting a lot of knock, the MEMCAL i had did not have the knock part in it so i wasn't getting any knock retard.

i think it would be best if you have a spare MEMCAL, or better yet get another one from the junk yard to cut the NETRES out of & give it a try.

I had a partial answer to this written up then... I got a "not responding" from my stink'n computer and lost it.

This won't work for me but may help someone else. Rather than disabling the limp home mode, you could increase (richen) the limp home fuel. This is for PCM P/N 16127470. Take a look at "Battery voltage/fuel pump compensation" at this link. You can play with the resistance to get 1.5X or 2X BPW for limp home fuel.

INJECTOR CONTROL

I am looking for a solution to the problem that my memcal is for a 3.1 and my engine is a 4.5L V6 race engine. I need more fuel in limp home mode and would rather it not run at all than be too lean...

I also don't want to remove the whole chip for fear that this will cause other problems.

I did find on Ludis site the U19 and U20 have limp home fuel on pin 9, but I don't want to play with the ecm hardware. If I'm going to ruin something it is just going to be a memcal. I'm going to study the schematics some more. I'll find a solution and let you know.
