Pocket Programmer Problems

Pocket Programmer Problems
I bought my programmer used, and it worked great on 27C256 chips, and 27C128 chips in Windows mode, and I had to shut down to DOS for 29C256 chips. But when I started doing 2732A TBI chips, the programmer wouldnt work at all. I sent it back to Xtronics for repair, and just received it yesterday. Today I try it out again, and find it'll do 2732A TBI chips just fine, but when I program 27C256 or 29C256 chips, they give a PROM error in the computer when I install them in the car. Great, I just traded one problem for another. Time to call Xtronics and send it back again.

try to program your flash chip(29c256) with a slightly different voltage, like try to program it with a 27c256 setting, then go back to the 29c256 setting and reprogram, see if that works, for SOME REASON. I have to do this exact procedure WHENEVER I open up the fileprom program initially. Once I've done this it will program all day unless my little 386/25mhz laptop locks up or something...

I think I figured it out. I changed the parallel port in the BIOS to bi-directional, then deleted the parallel port in Windows, and let it re-detect it, on my laptop. So far its burned both 2732A and 27C128 chips with no problems. I'll try my 27C256 and 29C256 chips tomorrow.
