Home-made ALDL interface box and Tunercat FLASHREAD help
I followed a link from tunercat's page referring me to a guy that put up a diagram on an ALDL interface box that utilizes the MAX232 chip. The problem is, I have built two of these and still cannot get it to work. Tunercat's FLASHREAD program gives me "INCORRECT MESSAGE SENT" errors whenever it tries to read the PCM. Like I said, I have tried different capacitors in the second box buildup but with the same results. Am I using the wrong design? Suggestions?

What ECM is the FLASHREAD program designed to run off of? Pre-93 didn't have PCMs if I'm not mistaken. Looks like you have a 87 165, try using my program to read run-time data from the car. You can also use it to dump the EPROM content to file for editing purposes...
