Ready to take the 730 plunge

Ok I am gathering equipment now. Most likely I am going to make an adapter so I don't have to butcher my factory ECM harness like Mike Davis did. Car is an 89 Vette with a 396 and miniram. I have been having problems with the MAF and the pump shot. Seems I either have too much or not enough. I have it good but its not perfect. The cam in it currently idles pretty good.

Are MAP systems more sensitive to larger cams? Duration is .220/.229 which for a 396 is not radical. I understand that the MAP system has a much more straight forward approach to pump shot changes. Also, what bin is best to start with? Also do you have to disable the VATS?

Thanks

I recently got my IROC back up and running. It has the stock 350 bottom end but now with a huge cam 230/245 (0.544"/0.547") along with all the other cool stuff

My car purrs like a kitten and I have no problems with off idle surges or the like. MAP rules. When you start talking BIG cams then IMHO the MAP system is less sensitive because it doesn't read reverse airflow like the MAF.

It took some major VE tweaking to get the car where it needs to be PROM-wise. I probably cut about 40-50% VE as compared to a STOCK AUJP bin. But, heh heh, my car idles at 70kPa (can you say big cam?).

I recommend starting with the AUJP base image and then doing some MAJOR tweaking.

Good luck.

Tim

Gunning for NA 11's with bigger cam, bigger stall, and bigger exhaust.
