A real .bin library
Needa a bin?.
Try looking here.
Cross referencing isn't done, but this is months of work to even get this far.
If you have any .bins that your sitting on, I'd sure like to have a copy. While there are some smaller libraies around, I'd like to continue working on having a **single** source area for them. I'm sure folks will download parts or all of it and that is what it's for, but if you have some I don't please forward a copy so we all can see it.
BTW, there are no aftermarket .bins here.

I actually like the broadcast code, as I am usually looking at the ecm cross reference, which lists the various broadcast codes associated with a particular ecm/engine/vehicle.
Thanks Grumpy, you've been busy this weekend.

Not being a software guy, tis alot of work there, just wish was further along, but wasn't getting anywhere lately with it.
There is an off list effort to further refine it. Hope they get it all streamlined.

I am new to this. But from what I can tell these are bins from various GM product lines like G\N and trucks?
If they aren't then what do the file names mean or how can I understand what they are?

Simple, use this link http://www.cruzers.com/~ludis/p4xref.html#1227730 to find the various ecms you are interested in and then find the broadcast code.
If you scroll up the link, you will find the various ecms used on various cars during various years, click on the ecm you are interested in and then find the broadcast code for that particular car/model/ecm.
Broadcast code is the "conventional" way to think about these. You cannot expect someone to "rename" everything like "Grand National 1987" or "Corvette 1990" etc, because certain people are too lazy to look up the correct broadcast code for a particular ecm/car/model?
Just use this link to find the ecm/broadcast code you are looking for and you'll get what you are seeking.

Knowing what it takes to get something organized like that, I can definitely appreciate it. Thanks!
I will also have a few more BIN's to contribute in the future. Might have a lot more depending on how soon my next trip to the junkyard is.

Mike Davis has a list of some of the XXXX codes at the bottom of his website:

I believe all the BINs in the library are stock. I don't think you'll see any modded BINs just for the liability they can create.

I've kinda stepped on some toes, and don't want to over do things.
Given a few stock bins, and some leg work, you can develope a solid base for where to look to see the changes as GM did them.
Yes, having a universal decoder ring would be nice, just don't know how to do that, yet.
Some of what would be nice to have is on dealerships GM CDs, but they supposedly need there own decoder ring to read. And now they have an even never system, that is dialup. I still most usually use an ol obsolete Snap on catalog, and it's just vin by MY, by ecm.

Grumpy, I got that PROM cross-reference book with my SnapOn, too. INVALUABLE when I first started this stuff.
I wish there were a place we could share modded BIN's, though, because there are a few people out there who need help and who I want to help for free. I'm with you on the liability thing but there has gotta be a way to get it done.

What are some folders duplicated? For instance the 8746 and 8746 61 ?
