Does the "rev limiter" setting in the bin actually work ?

Since I have a messed up transmission and there's no telling what RPM the engine might reach by mistake, I though it would be a good idea to limit the engine to 5000 rpm using the rpm limit setting (fuel cutoff) in TunerCat right below where you set the top speed mph limit. Well I took it to 5500 rpm and no fuel was cut off! I guess it doesnt work on my car, or has it not been implemented or something or what ? LoL

Sure does! I accidentally bumped into mine the other week when I was passing another car and forgot I had left my shifter in 2nd gear. I set mine at 5200 rpm since I shift at the track at 5000 rpm, and with over 127k miles on the engine (everything inside is original), I don't want to chance ruining it if somethere were to happen to the tranny, rear end, or whatever. Might want to check your settings in TunerCat again. Notice "settings" is plural. The higher rpm is to activate the rev limiter (cut off fuel), while the lower rpm is to stop the rev limiter (bring back fuel)...

Well I had it cut off fuel at 5000 and bring it back at 4800 rpm. Soooo... I doubt I messed up in THAT area. Oh well, maybe my tach is off or something. LOL But I'm not gonna risk taking to 6000 again. I took it to 6500 and pulled a stud. LOL

Might try really low.

Makes me think why people buy rev limiters for their cars when it's as easy as changing a number in the bin file... LOL

you will know the very first time why--the prom method is crude and very distinct.not at all like my msd soft touch that acts like the car is missing.it also creates a very lean condition everytime it takes place

So the ECM will drop the fuel pump entirely, when you reach the rev limit? Like the previous post said, wouldn't that lean out the mixture while the residual fuel in the rails bleeds off? Hopefully the ECM is smart enough to at least stop firing the injectors while the pump is off!

It doesnt turn off the fuel pump, it just doesnt fire the injectors.

It woudlnt be the ECM that would be smart enough, it would be GM engineers that designed it that way or not j/j
