Can't get TTS Datamaster to Link...Driver issue?

Ok so I need to do some datalogging with TTS Datamaster and first I tried my old printer port cable from Diacom and realized that won't work. I borrowed an Autoprom from one of my buddies with the USB cable and I downloaded the drivers from here: http://www.moates.net/documentation....entation_id=15 I installed the drivers and configured the port as stated and couldn't get a link for TTS or with Diacom. I restarted and tried changing a few other things with no luck. When I went to Device Manager it only listed Port 3 USB but didn't have Moates name listed like the directions said. I decided to try and start over so I went into the unzipped moates directory and used the unzip tool. Now it won't let me reinstall. I went back to the device manager andit has no port 3 listed and the USB Serial Converter says it's missing a driver. Do I need to uninstall this as well and then reinstall everything? I'm not super savvy with computers so I didn't know if that was a good idea or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I need to datalog ASAP so I can finish getting this car ready for Power Tour.

Thanks in advance.

So far i've only gotten Datamaster to work with my old serial type cable. I've also tried to get it to work with my autoprom without any success.

Paul back a year ago when I first bought a laptop and started as a newbe to logging I ran Datamaster with no problems on a 1993 pickup (E6 I think). I used the Moates ALDU1 adapter. It I think is the same as is in the Autoprom for the datalogging. I also used it with other loggers with zero problems. Worked first time every time. I would recheck the driver settings.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers 3 times now with no success. At this latest install I cannot choose COM 3 as a port in TTS's ALDL Check program. What am I doing wrong here?

Have you checked the settings in the BIOS. See if the serial port and the USB ports are "Enabled". Just a shot hope it works.

Well I use the USB for other devices so I'm assuming it's turned on.

Ok I think I'm set now....it's passing the ALDL test now....got too late to try actual datalogging though. My buddy and I disabled the COM1 port as well as the internal modem and infrared devices. Worked like a charm after that.

I am having the same kind of problems. Why did you disable the #1 Com port. Was it highlighted as a port to use when you tried recording?

A friend suggested it...something about it interfering with the communication. I just did it on a suggestion and it worked out for me. Can't hurt to try.
