new LC-1 no good.

Just got my LC-1 in today, went out to the car. opened the hood to do the sensor heater calibration and th free air calibration, and I got an error code 8, bad o2 sensor. I even called innovate to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong and I wasn't. Just wanted to rant because I'm rather ticked. The tech guy claimed they had like 2 in 10,000 bad o2 sensors right out of the package, he claimed that is was most likely the lc-1 itself.

I've seen 2 new ones out of the box, fail.
It's easy to take some pretty sophisticated technology for granted. Stuff happens, I know it stinks when it happens to you, but, that's just the way things go, there's no real reason to get ticked about it.

I'm gonna jump in here in defense of Innovate Motorsports. I have had my LM-1 for over 2 years and used it every day in a semi-permanent installation and never had a problem with it until the other day when I accidently yanked out the power cord during a new sensor calibration and it died (Error 05, cell short). I called Innovate and they gave me an RMA number and I sent my unit in for repair. I got my unit back a week later repaired at no charge. I plan to stand behind a company that stands behind their product like that. I know it sux when you drop good coin on a product and it doesn't work but you made a good decision in the LC-1. Lady luck just chose to not smile on you today. JMHO

oh yeah I know, Just seems to happen to me one out of three items I buy in the mail are broke, missing parts, or wrong. And this is new stuff. That's ok though. I am sending it back to whom I bought it from. Just didn't want to wait three weeks for the wbo2 when it was all said and done.

Any time I get an error 4, 5, or 8 with my LC-1 (which happens on just about every cold start), give it a few seconds, turn the car off, and then restart it. Almost always clears the error I see with just doing this one time. Rarely does a second time have to be tried, but when it is I always get it working by trying it once more.

FYI - this is so prevalent on my LC-1 that I installed a small toggle switch in the power feed to my LC-1 so I can recycle it without turning the whole car off.

Thats just it, I never, ever, got an error, until my LM-1 went t!ts up. I would like to think that it will be as reliable in the future. We'll see.

I think I have had my Innovate for 3+ years now and its been good to me so far.

Only issue I ever had was the darn power lead lifted from the board and I had to resolder it and reinforce it from inside.

Sensors are available cheap from large Audi/VW parts stores or friendly delaer connections. Last two I bought were like 73-74$ for the pair

I've gotten them since day #1 and have talked to them 3 or 4 times about it, all I'm ever told is "everything sounds fine but you're welcome to return it if you want us to check it out". So far I haven't wanted to un-do the installation of it up through the floor boards, under the console, into the dash, etc. Guess I could try a new sensor, other idea I had was to run power from the battery to a relay and trigger it off the key/switch just in case it's a lack of amperage while warming up (the power wire is pretty darn small).
