can't burn a 29c256 using $58code

can't burn a 29c256 using $58code

i ran out of 27sf512 chips so i grabbed
the spare 29c256 out of my firebird
it burns just fine 8d code , i can make any
change i need no problem . i try and
burn it for my typhoon using different
programs i have used before and when
i try and use it on the truck it doesn't work ,
check engine fault . when i try and open it
in tuner cat it says ecm definition file
not compatible and i should use $58
which i am using ..

any ideas

You have to load the $58 code in the upper half, or double load it.
It only uses a 128K image.

so you are saying i need to change
the device end point on a 29c256
chip ? if so where do i end it at ?

How do you run out of 27sf512 chips? They should be good for 10,000+ re-writes. You can bin stack using the MS-DOS "copy /b" command. It does a binary copy.

i tune on several different vehicles for
friends . i need to order some more
chips . i do have some 29c256 120ns
chips i wish i could use with my pocket
programmer but it does not recognize them .

thanxs craig for the info

so i neeed to fill the buffer with FF at all locations
to erase it and then start the program at 4000
to work

ok my illiterate fingers must be pushing
the wrong buttons .

i am still getting the same error message ,
not compatible with this source file ,use
$58 definition file .

i already have $58 chosen as my ecm in
in tunercat .

anymore ideas for the mentally challenged
kid in the back .

The Pocket Programmer will recognize the AT29C256 chips. I was programming some with a PP the other day. I think it is the "F" key for flash and then the "8" key for AT29C256. The PP has supported them for a long time. Did you put them in the socket correctly?

yup its in right
i went and put my firebird 8d program
back on it and it worked just fine
i made some changes and it works in the car
and i can read it correctly in tuner cat .

i am just having some wierd issue
tryin to put the $58 stuff on it
