Auto to Stick chips?

I just finished up my T56 swap from auto. I was wondering if having the stock auto chip with the manual chip "piggybacked" (i have a chip that i burned with the use of my hypertech chip adapter) will affect the way the engine works with the tranny?

Just a little unclear on this....

Thanks

Kyle

not really sure what you are asking;

but as long as the computer sees the chip you burned and not the stock one, you should be fine.

i assume that the adapter you are using is electronically the same thing as the moates adapter, which i use.

Well once I changed over to the t56 and took it out for a test drive, my speedo pegged, so i went back into TunerCat and played with the Vehicle Speed Senor and the instrumental divisor but didn't have much luck. I ended guessing on some things and changed some "base" settings on the Divisor and now my speedo is a lot closer to what it should be, not right on but closer. The other problem I'm having is that after a while once the car is warmed up it will stall out, just sitting in neutral - would i want to change the idle speed?

i have my E-test tmrw and i'd like to be able to have half decently running car for that - haha

so if you have any suggestions that would be awesome!!

what chip are you using? or which modified chip are you using?

and yes it would be like the moates adpater. the hypertech chip ie thermomaster like mine is perfect for chip swapping

thanks

Kyle

My base chip is AXXD.

I've *never* had a stalling issue where she would just stall out of nowhere. are you sure it's not something mechanical/misfire type issue? if so, give us some more detail about what code you are running and how things are set up etc.

As a side note (and perhaps for folks like grumpy/traxion/rbob etc. to comment on): sine i'm running a pretty much stock L98 with a t56, and others have made this swap, i receive occassional PM's to share the work I've done (to protect the innocent: nobody in this thread has done so). I'm not really sure how to go about this, but i certainly woudln't mind sharing in a way that is constructive. any ideas???

I wouldn't mind seeing it, and it would be nice to compare notes. I've done the same thing, but I modified my AUJP bin to support the T-56. It worked fine, but I've converted to AXCN now. I haven't used AXXC/AXXD.

Rather than distributing your chip or BIN, why not just give us some details on what you had to change and why so we can make the changes and subsequent "adjustments" ourselves?

I run AXXD on a TPI 350 with a T5 in my Monte. All I did was copy over as many 350 specific tables and settings that I could find in the Vette 6spd calibration. A bit caveman-ish but it worked for me.

For my AUJP modded bin, I set the manual xmission flag, zero'd out the TCC stuff, modded the IAC throttle follower tables, and modded the idle speeds. I used ANHT as a reference for the IAC and idle stuff. I think that's essentially what I did, it's been a long while since I did it.

AXCN, I copied over my spark tables, PE, VE tables, EGR, CCP, AIR settings, and spark latency. I wasn't happy with the AE on AUJP, so I kept the AXCN and tweaked that a bit but haven't done much with it yet.

Just curious, but why did you select AXCN for your base? I picked AXYC because I thought it was the last SD manual tranny BIN that GM made. Was that incorrect?

AXCN is a 91 vette 6spd 350 cal.

AXYC is a 91 F-bod 5spd 305 cal.

probably both are just as good a starting point as any. The actual management code Y vs. F is basically identical, so the only differences is tuning anyways. It's possible GM had different teams on each project (I'd hope they did more drivability and testing on the Y body since those buyers probably expected a lot more of GM!) so each might have different tuning strategies.

I don't see any new for 92 calibrations at all, by then GM probably had all their resources on the LT1 team.

I used AXXD because it came in an F-body (a G92 like mine specifically), and seemed the "closest" to what I actually had. Maybe it just made me feel better and I would have done just as good with AXCN or AXYC. who knows. Either way it's the tuning you do on top of the starting point that counts, and any one of these calibrations would work with tuning.

Great, Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the AXYC was the update/replacement BIN for the original 305 TPI in my G92 Formula, that's why I selected that one.

I often wondered about the Vette bin, but since I'm a 5 speed instead of a T-56, I picked the T-5 version to start with. Hopefully there aren't too many differences. I wonder if going to the Vette bin would affect the shift light problem I can't seem to get rid of with TC....

I chose AXCN because of the patches that Z69 and Rbob has put out. It's there for AUJP and AXCN (Rbob's patch anyway). Z69 I just hex edited, so it's cool. I didn't see anything for, and didn't want to research, the 305 T-5 bins.

Guess I need to find a base/clean AXCN bin and check it out.....
