New Idea for WB02??

I am not sure I have seen it mentioned here before, but apparently GM has been using WB02 sensors in select cars:

" The WRAF sensor has been used in the past on select models of GM vehicles with the 3.0L L81 engine, first in the 1999-2001 Cadillac Catera, then in the 2000-2004 Saturn LS."

WRAF = Wide range oxygen-fuel

The entire article can be read at:
http://service.gm.com/gmtechlink/ima...May03e.html#f5
by clicking on the "A New Kind of Oxygen Sensor" link.

Now can anybody hack into the computer on those cars? I know they are OBDII vehicles, but wouldn't it be easier to tune a V8 using those computers that already adjust for WB02 sensors? Is that possible? I am sure it is not hard to get a 2000-2004 Saturn LS harness and computer (I found harness and computer for $100). I will supply the harness and computer if someone wants to try to hack it.

If that is not possible, can we use the sensors for WB02 projects. The universal sensor at autozone is $74 and the OE one is $170 - both Bosch units.

Hope this is not a repeat post.....

AFAIK not a repeat post. It's good to keep up with OEM's that are using WB's. In checking the link info this WB appears to be a Bosch LSU unit. Basically a WB O2 sensor based on pump cell technology. As it is now the key to WB's in hobbiest hands is the price of the sensor.
