New ALDL cable, but no signal from ECM???
Well I finally got my mastach obd1 aldl the other day, and I loaded about half a dozen different diagnostic programs, and not a single one worked. I ran their supplied diagnostics for the cable, and half the time it passes, the other half it fails?!?! What is going on? When I ran Datamaster software, it tells me that the cable is working, but that there is no signal from the pcm. Anyone experience a similar problem? Thanks

I have a similar problem but not with the reader or software you are using. Mine will not read with using the SunPro/ Actron scanner that is out on the open market. I will try hooking up with winaldl as it seems as most folks have had success with it.

I haven't had any luck with either of the choices they sent me. Needless to say I am not pleased.

Hopefully there is contact info........yes? If so, let them figure it out. Did your car ever communicate with any other devices/ software? Maybe they forgot the 10k Ohm resistor you may need to get things going. I know they said it is included but you never know.

well the thing is I used to check for fault codes now and then by jumping the a and b terminals. And it worked fine, so I know there is a signal coming from those contacts. I dunno. They said there is a .1% chance of a cable failing in the field after it has passed their initial quality tests. But I tried everything.

I tried it with the red pin in the M connector like they said and also the b connector in the e pin, but to no avail.

I am having a similar problem with my 88 305 TBI. I have tried 2 ALDL cables from Customefis and 2 different USB adapters but neither one is working. With the radioshack USB I get 2 or 3 pieces of data but they are wrong. With the USB adapter from Comp USA I get no data at all. I tried using both WINALDL and Tuner Pro. I was gonna try the moates usb setup, anyone know how well that works, that way I wouldn't need a USB adapter.

moates is supposed to be really good stuff. If I woulda known how straight forward the mastach piece was I would have had my friend make me one. Oh well, lesson learned. I was going to get the moates setup, for tuning on the fly, emulator and burner in one.
