Semi-newb looking for help w/ 350+454 TBI

Hello,

I had just started to dip my feet into the deep, dark pool of DIY PROM with my 86 TA before I got rid of it. I have a Pocket Programmer II that I bought back then. Now I'd like to start learning with what I have around, two trucks. One is a '93 with a 5.7 TBI, and the other has a 7.4 TBI.

I'm having trouble finding any good info on stats/specs, even a good place to start with these. Keep in mind I'm pretty new, but after searching I still am not sure what ECM they have. These are the only listings I could find:

16146299- 93 5.7 TBI w/o 4L80E ($99)
16156480- 93 5.7 TBI w/ MT ($9A)
16171199- 93-95 5.7 TBI w/ MT ($9A)
16196396- 94-95 5.7 TBI w/ MT ($9A)

Both trucks are automatic, the 7.4 is in a 1-ton, so I'm guessing it has a 4L80E, where the 5.7 would have a 4L60E.

Again, sorry if this seems like a dumb question, I'm just trying to start with anything.

Thanks for the help,
-Dustin

Your gonna have to pop open the glove box, and get the service numbers off the computers. The on with a TPI engine isn't going to be the original computer.

My bad, I definitely meant 5.7 TBI.

Now, can anybody point me towards where to start when it comes to some of this truck/TBI technology? A proper list of GM Truck ECM applications, Broadcast Codes(BCC), a good starting BIN, etc? Just something to start fooling around with TunerPro with, to get a handle on.

Thanks,
-Dustin

Good possibility the 454 is a 16147060. If it is, I've got a Tunerpro .ecu file that I've done for it - not really tested much, but you're welcome to give it a try and play with it.

As far as the .bin files for each application, you really should pull chips out and read them. Then you'll have the proper .bin to stat playing with.

Have you checked out www.tunercat.com they have a good list of vehicle computers.

I will definitely be pulling the PCM's to get to the stock chip, for now I just wanted to start fooling around more than anything to get some practice at it.

Anybody know where there might be a copy of a $E6 bin definition or .ecu file then? I found one for $0D, but not for $E6 yet.

Thanks for all the help so far,
-Dustin
