Calculate the injector constants correctly and also the cylinder displacement. Look on this board for the correct math.
Good Luck.

using the 8d_v03.ecu i set my displacement to 6.6litres and set the injector constant to 29.03. now my ve tables need to go over 100 but it doesn't let me save anything over 99.48 or something like that. i tried setting the injector constant to 19 and left the displacement alone and it helped the upper ve tables, but how do i do it by setting the injector constant to 29.03?

The 730 ECM software was not designed to control an engine that large. I think it was JP86SS that posted a code change that will allow the correct Pulse Width to be calculated for larger engines. It should come up with a search of the DIY PROM board.

The VE tables are 8 bit so there is a 100% limit. Can't put any higher in and save it.
The smaller the injector the more VE you need in the tables to get the fuel. While the ecm will calculate a bigger PW due to the smaller injector, it still won't be enough PW so you need more VE. Bigger injector will lower the VE table value required.
At some point on a 406 the stock 8D code runs out of digits to do the PW calc. So the PW is capped at that PW.
Lots of people still using stock code on a 406 though.
By you putting those big values in the table, your assured of hitting this cap.
Now as to why you need that much fuel, that is another issue. Need to ask a more experienced tuner than me.
I'd switch to the Super8dm_2 ecu at moates.net.
And the PW cap fix is up in the stickies as "8D PW limit fix."
From what I can tell, only a sharp tuner has caught the cap on a 406. A different combo might hit it sooner.
Once you get your constants set correctly, look for another problem. Need to make sure your O2 sensor is correct. I'd think 29's are enough for that combo.
Also I've never used the vo3 ecu, you didn't actually use 6.6l did you? Need to make sure the math is done correctly by the ecu and you entered the correct size vol.
and units. The ecu's I've seen want one cylinder vol in cc's.

the v03.ecu wants it in litres , ona stock aujp bin it brings up 5.7 so with the 406 i used 6.6 . thanks for the replies. z69 im using the super aujp v3 bin that from what i understand has the capping issue resolved ?

To make the change is very easy from the instructions on the other thread.
The codes are right there if you want to do it.
Just remember to load it up in TP or something to recalculate the checksum when done.

Prego... It's in there!
Traxion stated he DID put it into the S_AUJP V3.
Give that a shot.
Search for the S_AUJP thread that was started. There are 2 V3 files. One was posted up later because of an incorrect spark table.
Just to be sure you have the right one or you can paste your existing one in there.
The expansions of the VE's were the V4 topic IIRC.
