Performance PROM, performance issues.
Hi all,
OK this is not exactly a DIY prom problem, but i did not know where else to ask.
I am a novice to the world of PROMS, so rather than learn to do it myself i got a chip for my car from tpichips.com
The guy asked the exact spec of my car and said he would produce one to suit.
Anyway to cut a long story short the said "Performance chip" actually has slightly less torque on light throttle than the stock DELCO chip.
Also i am only doing 130 miles to a tank instead of the usual 180 miles to a full tank.
He does not appear to be willing to burn me another chip and only want to refund my money.
So the question is, are any "After Market" chips actually any good ?? or should i just save up and buy some chip burning equipment and lean how to do it myself ?
Any help appriciated.

Since this is the DIY prom section- I think you know the answer. With your miserable results, I think you have first hand proof why we feel the way we do.
If he is offering a refund- take him up on it before he changes his mind. Read all the sticky posts at the top of this forum, and go from there.

Agreed. If you want it done right, do it yourself.....and take the refund while you can.
You wouldn't ship a carb off to somebody to have it tuned would you? It just can't be done properly without on-car testing and lots of test-drives. EFI tuning isn't really much different.....you're just use a keyboard and mouse instead of a screwdriver.....and you can do SO much more with EFI.
