proper afr egt readings to keep happy
i just purchased a zertronix wide band and I am fairly new to the tuning aspect of the hole deal. here is the question! what is the proper safe range for the AFR readings and EGT readings and were is the proper place to install the egt probe
the motor is a 377 (destroked 400) solid cam about 9:1 comp with ATI super charger w/about 5-6 lbs of boost (soon to be more) smaller pulley i spent a ton of money on this motor and would like to keep it together for awhile thanks for your time

I installed this system in my '92 Z28 and am very impressed with the functionality of this unit. I asked the same question and could not really find a good answer. I reasoned that since I was not using eight sensors I would not get a true indication of what the engine was doing. And, since it is batch fire EFI and has no way to adjust timing on individual cylinders that if you had eight sensors it would probably not be any more effective to install in one header tube. I installed mine in top of the crossover tube on the left side of the oil pan. This is about 8 inches from the header collector. I guess I'm getting a mix of all 4 left cylinders pretty good. So far my EGT on the left bank has been running about 400* at idle, 480*-520* at cruise, and at WOT at 100+ mph 680*- 725*. I would eventually like to buy another EGT sensor for the rt. bank. It is probably a good tuning tool but some say the WBO2 is a more effective tuning tool. I would not have bought it for just the EGT though.
So far as a range for the WBO2 my Z idles in open/closed loop at about 14.7 cruises at 14.2-14.9 and at WOT it really richens up too much to about 10.3 or so. I've got some tuning to do.
