Question on buying MEM-CAL's...
I'm am looking to buy a couple used MEM-CAL's to reprogram but I wanted to be clear on something....
For my 92 GTA, I can use ANY 90-92 Firebird/Camaro TPI MEM-CAL right? I know LB9 or L98 doesn't matter but I was wondering about manual or auto tranny, I assume this does not matter either right? And what about the knock sensor stuff in the CAL-PAK, does that differ 305 to 350?
Also is there a list of GM P/N's I can get that will show me P/N's for all 90-92 TPI MEM-CAL's both LB9/L98 and T5/4L60?
None of my local junkyards had any and GM Parts Direct was sold out on mine which was the only P/N I had.
Anyone know of any sources out there?
Thanks!

Well through allot of searching I found another P/N that I know will work for me. Here are the ones I have:
My factory one:
16163075 - AXXF 1992 LB9/4L60 MEM-CAL - Sold Out
The one I just ordered:
16163062 - AXXB 1991 LB9/4L60 MEM-CAL - Placed Order
Hopefully that one won't get kicked back to me as being sold out either or I'm screwed

From what I've read, the knock sensors and the corresponding "calpaks" are different from a 305 to a 350 as well as the Limp mode resistor stuff. So a 305 may not run in limp with a 350 memcal.
And the knock stuff may not work well either. Want to test a stock aujp?
See what happens?
The bin is set up for man or auto, but can be edited to work.
Why are you buying another memcal?
Spare?

Thanks for verifying all that for me.
Turns out the AXXB is also sold out
I found an old post where someone also said a 16163139 - AXYD would also work but I can't seem to find info for that broadcast code elswhere on the net to verify. Anyone know what exactly AXYD is? 1990 I'm assuming since 91 and 92 are posted above, unless the person that made the 1 post a while back was wrong. I just want to be sure before I try and place and order for it.
Yes I need a couple spare, I'm removing the 27C256's and replacing them with 29C256's. I need 2 more MEM-CAL's at this point.

The main thing to make sure of is that the memcal is V8, other than that, displacement doesn't matter.

Here are the BCC's from my Snap-On PROM cross-reference.....I eliminated the duplicates so don't consider this a complete list. Also I have no way of telling if it was written as a manual or automatic tune.
1990 5.0 vin code F
ASNH.....AXYB.....AXYC
AXYD.....ANHY.....ANJB
ANJH.....ANJJ.....ANJR

1992 5.0 vin code F
nothing that hasn't been used before
That what you're looking for?

Thought of something else......
When GM issued a new PROM to supercede an older tune (i.e. to correct a problem in the original tune) they stopped selling the older PROM. You may have luck with the most recent F-vin BCC's. According to Snap-On, none of these were ever superceded by another BCC. Here are the part numbers:
16163062 AXXB
16163066 AXXC
16163070 AXXD
16163075 AXXF
16163138 AXYC
FWIW these were all issued to correct low speed driveability issues and false-code 43's.
I do know that AXYC is a manual bin, because I'm using the idle and throttle-follower stuff from it as a starting point for the motor I'm putting in my Jeep (which has a Dana 4-speed.)

Good to know.
I'm just happy I was finally able to contribute something moderately useful.
