Newbie Q's: PROM part #'s and EEPROMs

Two newbie questions:

How do I figure out my PROM part number? Do I just pull it out and look? I have a 7747 ECM.

In the tech article on PROM programming it mentioned EEPROMs for TPI cars. Is it possible to go to EEPROMs for TBI too? UV erasing seems like a serious pain.

Thanks.
