TunerPro RT

Need some help here. I'm trying to get TunerPro up and running for the first time. I have not ever reprogramed any chips and I have the Prominator on order. Yes I am a beginner, but so many of you said it is sooo easy, now I need some help.

I have a 1990 IROC, 350 TPI, with a P4, 1227730, Speed density, 8192 baud. I have downloaded TunerPro, the rich20 file and hooked up to the ALDL port. With the ign on and TunerPro open, I wait the 8sec countdown, then I click on the tool tab at the top and it shows different choices, click on the ALDL Communication tool and nothing happens, the screen does not change, it does not open or show me a setup tab. I e-mailed Mangus and he asked me what ADS file am I using. What is that and where do I find it?

You guys said this was easy, LOL! I can turn wrenches and tune carbs/timing curves with the best of them but as far as computers and programming go, I suck!! Please help, I'm dead in the water here!

The ADS file is the datastream definition.

An alternate download site is:
http://moates.net/fileman/index.php?...%20Definitions

If downloading the 1227730 ads file doesn't fix things, you might try scanning with Moates' ECM program, just to see if it connects. If that works, then you know your cable, etc. is good, and that the problem is likely with the RT settings.

If Moates ECM doesnt work off of windows, try running it from a DOS prompt. If it connects from DOS, you may have a problem with the windows port settings.

I'm sure Mangus can add some other ideas, if you can't get things to work.

The computer stuff takes some time, but it'll come. Kind of like learning a new language -- bit of a steep learing curve at first, and then all of a sudden things just start to make sense.

I think I have it narrowed down to my laptop. TunerPro opens fine on my home cpu but does nothing on my laptop. The only programs installed on my laptop are win98, winzip, Moates and TunerPro. I'm now thinking that my laptop needs to have microsoft office installed? Because I dont have excell or word, would that cause it not to operate? Thats the only thing I can figure. I can run moates software no problem, so I know my com port is working.

First things first:

On your laptop, did you unzip the riched20.zip file to the TunerPro program folder (defaults to c:\program files\tunerpro rt)? If not, you need to do so. The file does nothing when zipped. =)

Thats the *only* thing I can think of that would keep taht window from opening.

Once you get the ALDL com tool to open up, everything else should make sense.
