Yes, you want an EE .tdf file for editing the OBDI LT1 flash pcms.
Try AKM cables. A search or goggle should find him.
You want the cables right, since any booboo during flashing, locks up the PCM.

Spare ECMs are a good idea... Never know when might go sideways on you. The PCMs tend to lock up if something fubars during a flash dump. AFAIK theres no DIY way to wake one back up if this happens. BW

LT-1 question: I keep hearing talk of "early" LT-1 computers having a removable chip which is programmed and then reinstalled, much like the earlier ecm's. I then looked at an 8051 pcm which did have a little removable device under a small cover but with only 5 or so pins on it. The LT-1's are programmable but only thru the OBD1 connector, right?? And this talk of removable and programmable chips for the LT-1 is old wives tales??

i think what you see under the cover is the knock sensor.. but if their are removable chips.. that would be nice... anyone know??

I wish I had OBDII Now that most emissions stations have switched over to scanning the ALDL port for OBDII (as opposed to actually measuring the emissions) it is rather easy to make a car pass emissions. The OBDI setups still have to get the actual emissions tested.

In '94, things went to MAF, and FLASH, and transmission control was added (i.e 4L60E), so the '8051 is more correctly referred to as a PCM, rather than an ECM.
The removeable device you saw on that '8051 was the ESC module, for the knock sensor circuitry.
BTW, if you're referring to the '92-'97 EFI engine, and not a carbureted smallblock from many years ago, it's "LT1" not "LT-1", at least if you care to follow GM's nomenclature. (nevermind the fact that half the aftermarket gets it wrong, too.)
