In all honesty I cant imagine why anyone would try to tune without the AFR Tuner.

OK, so if I use this app I can tell the ECM that the ideal AFR for a certain RPM/Temp is, but it will have no effect on the actual fueling, and I'll need to modify the VE tables accordingly to add/remove fuel to match the new AFR. Is that a correct statement, or am I way off?

It affects PE fuel add only.
Has no impact on part throttle or cruise fueling.
A good rule of thumb is to not even bother making an effort to tune PE fuel for WOT purposes until your part throttle stuff is real close.
Kinda like a pyramid, you have to build from a solid base.

Just wanted to say that the source code for this program was lost about 2 weeks ago. I backup all my home stuff but this source code was on my work computer and I lost the hard drive. I totally forgot that it existed only there. Oooooops. Gone forever in cyberland Thus, no additional changes or modifications to this program are possible.

Sorry to hear you lost the code. I am going to test out a DIY WB kit this weekend and figured that I would try out Mike's WB code. I fired up the car without the WB connected using a bin with the WB code. I got an instant SES light.
I have used the AFRtuner code to generate a new bin and have also hand entered the code to another bin. Both give an SES light. I ran two different tools to make sure the chesksums are correct and read back the PROM after burning and did file compares. All is correct.
So I disassembled the code. It looks like he moved the AFR location to the NVRAM area. I am guessing that not using the 0x3000 could possibly upset the ECM when the values are way out of range due to not having the WB connected. Or it could be causing a problem in the multiply code.
I am going to dig deeper tomorrow.

I should have read the Help file first. It says the SES should be on. Thank you Traxion for pointing that out. The website does not say anything about it. I might look into writing my own patch so that the SES isn't always on.

Is there a possibility that you could give me an idiots guide how to actually use the AFR Tuner?
I guess what I'm missing is when you are on the Wideband and you see that a change is needed, do you open the .bin file you are running, make the change using the AFR Tuner, and use the Pocket Romulator or AutoProm to implement the changes Real Time?
