TCC strategies
Since the pow wow where i figured out why i could make head nor tails of my TTC tables(backwards in my def file, thanks bob and shannon lol) I've managed to play a decent amount with the tables and make it work flawlessly in OD. Locks and unlocks wonderfully and exactly where it "feels" right to me and doesnt bog the engine down etc....
Part of my original goal when I was able to manipulate the lockup/unlock tables was to be able to lock the converter at low speeds in 3rd gear. Trying to achieve maximum mileage and i do tend to due a fairly large amount of in town and/or low speed driving.
As of yet all of my experiments in locking up the converter in town at low speeds has met with failure.. From the data of gathered, roughly 5 hrs with seat time and trying everything i was able to think of, it all boils down to one very basic problem. The converter unmlocking when the throttle is released and then spinning up and relocking.. Low stall converters in the stock stall range it works fine like my 91 GTA. This on my Formula makes for a somewhat less than enjoyable experience unless u like lock , unlock , rpm like mad, then relock over and over again lol
Question being, what will i end up having to do to eliminate this issue(figuring code dealing with tcc unlock vs tps in the hac), and would it be adverse to torque converter life?
Has anyone accomplished keeping the converter locked until a certain mph is reached on normal decel and then unlocking? Basically making the converter function only by the lock and unlock tables in 3 and 4th gears?
Any strategies or pointers welcome
Jeremy
PS Rbob this one is for you i havent posted in about 2 weeks :-) lol

Good old coast (decel) unlock, 2 weeks, see these terms:
There is a hard coded 5 MPH hyst for the MPH sw point. Setting L8316 to zero should do what you are looking for.
RBob.
Code:
L8315: FCB 32 ; COAST RELEASE, TPS SW POINT, (32 MPH) L8316: FCB 8 ; LO NPH COAST LOAD LIMIT, 3% TPS L8317: FCB 0 ; HI NPH COAST LOAD LIMIT, 0% TPS L8318: FCB 3 ; TPS HYST FOR COAST LOAD LIMIT

We're talking about the 91 Formula here right (730 / 8D)?
If so, there are 2 changes you need to make so that the TCC stays locked during decel.
1- reference https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...C+decel+unlock
That small code change works perfectly, i've been runnning it since last year sometime. The only other change needed is...
2- Set the constant for TCC unlock during decel off. Otherwise the TCC stays locked when you lift the throttle, then unlocks when it hits DFCO, then relocks when the RPMs fall and it leaves DFCO. Then unlocks as the RPMs go back up and hits DFCO again.
RBob's idea might work too, just sharing what i know worls for me.

The code change just disables the use of the coast release terms. You can change locations $316 & $317 to zero for the same result (note that the locations L8316 & L8317 are physical ECM locations, use $316 & $317 when editing a bin).

It's not very hard. All you do is go to the address mentioned and change those 2 bytes to 01 01. I just used the hex editor built in to the winPP software. The only trick is, you then need to re-open and re-save the file in tunercat to fix the checksum

Rbob u mentioned using $316 and $317, how exactly can i input that inot the tc editor if that is what u were referring to?(believe it was correct me if im wrong)
Sorry guys the code stuff here is killing me and i do not know anyone close who can even remotely help me with this stuff so i appreciate it greatly
