no reason to buy tunercat. find the ecu that matches your ECM and code mask.

The chip is acdelco part number 1#16143692. This one is going to still have vats enabled, but if your getting tunercat you can pull that out.

Thats for a 350 caprice cop car tbi.

Hope that helps,
Mike

Ah yes, $61... if you ever end up creating an ECU for it, let me know.

Meanwhile, you can find your bin in the www.diy-efi.org ftp site. There are about 5 copies of it sitting in there.

We rock.

Well, there you have it. Now you can use GMECM Edit with this bin. =)

Then it is not stock. The stock ANLU bin doesn't even have the VATS frequencies entered into the cal, the locations are $FFFF.

I can email you a stock ANLU bin, just PM me with an email addy to send it to.

RBob.

edit: P.S. I posted the ANLU bin to the TBI board a while ago. Just searched and can no longer find it. Anyone have the thread URL?

Yes, that is correct for ANLU. The VATS freq locations are actually 2 16 bit (2 byte) locations. You should find 255 four times in a row. 255 is the same as $FF, hence low freq = $FFFF & high freq = $FFFF.

In this case just flipping the VATS enable bit w/o changing the freq locations and VATS still won't work properly.

so ur saying just disabling vats wont work, because it was disabled and vats was still working. i just grounded the starter relay to disable it. but i still want to know y my vats was still working even though it was disabled in the chip.

Actually I am saying the opposite. If someone were to use the ANLU bin and enable VATS via the option bit, then the engine would never start, even with a good VATS signal.

This is because the VATS freq settings in the chip are not set. In order to use ANLU w/a VATS setup, both the VATS enable bit needs to be set along with setting up the proper upper & lower freq boundries in the cal area.

In some of your orignal posts it almost sounded as though in your bin someone enabled the VATS option and did not program the freq calibration. That would create a disabled system as the engine wouldn't start even with a proper VATS signal.

As an FYI the portion of VATS in the chip only stops the injectors from delivering fuel. The starter disable is from elsewhere.

well then i guess i grounded the fuel relay, what ever relay is in the driver side kickpanel, i grounded the black/yellow wire and now i can start the car with no vats.

the chip i was saying has vats disabled under the flag data, and under the constant i think it says the freq is 255. but the vats was still working in my car.
