The two computers that did not work were a compaq laptop 120mhz and a generic 233 mhz desktop.
It ended up working on my 1.4ghz athalon with win 98. I have a dual boot system, most of the time I use xp, however, I have a small partition that is still win 98 just for this type of stuff. I have not yet tried it on the xp side.

I'd seen some problems with a ca. 200mHz laptop machine, but it had a BUNCH of stuff running in the background (antivirus, etc). Once all that was turned off, it did fine.
Of course, I have no problems with my XP2200 desktop in Win98. WinXP is still squirrely as heck though on LPT/COM stuff, even with all the port-activation code, etc.

Axle/Gears: Drums?
I just wanted to confirm what I've read from this post. I can get one of the SPEP Plus programmers, go to radio shack and get a power supply for it, get an adaptor and chips from Craig Moates, download the free programming software, and I will be ready to burn my own chips. Is this going to be everything I need, or is there something I'm missing? I want to make sure I have a handle on everything before I start ordering parts. Thanks for the help.

Does anyone have the exact info for the adapter from radio shack? I didn't know if they use any kind of part number system, but I didn't want to have to try to get some salesman to understand what I was looking for. Thanks

I just picked up a more compact power supply for mine from Wallyworld (Walmart) It's specs are:
Name: Powerline
Amps: 1000mA
Volts 3-12 VDC
Folding plug blades
6 different switchable plugs
Works great and is quite small for what it is.

I just got my power supply this last weekend from Radio Shack. I didn't save the part numbers, but it was easy enough to find what I needed by bringing the programmer in with me. I got one of their better quality power plugs, then spliced on one of the universal adapter harnesses that fit each of the 30 or so ends you can buy there as well. It cost a bit more then the Wally one, but at $25-ish I can power anything I'll ever need by getting more of the plugs.

I purchased the Willem programmer. It works great. Came complete with programmer, power supply and Windows software that programs a bunuch of eproms. I am using it with ATMEL 29c256 chips and it works perfectly, all this under Win XP
I paid $80 for it.
www.willem.org
I bought it off Ebay but it was brand new...I just did a search for "willem eprom" on Ebay and found 2 for sale...
I give them 2 thumbs up!
