I'm kinda new to these boards and I'm an extreme DIYer. I 've got the new parts to put on my car but I don't want to install them until I figure out the whole prom burning deal. I don't want to pay someone for it cuz I want to learn but this stuff seems way over my head. I have read Trax intro like 20 times and most of the links but it still seems very vague. I dont mind buying the tools to do it but its a waste of money if I dont figure it out. My car is a 91 TBI and I will be changing heads, cam, intake and a few bolt ons, so I know it will benefit with custom prom tuning. Any suggestions?

I know it can be overwhelming at first. The best thing fo me was to get a scan tool ( i use craig moates' :hail: ) but that wont work for your computer i think. I just hooked it up, and started scanning, so i could see what all the new terms meant. Also, get a copy of winbin, and just open it it with your ecm file and see what all is available to change. Just try to get familiar with what all the terms are. Hands on is the best way for me. With any luck, you can find a freeware scanner for your car, so the only money you will be out is for the cable. Im electronically incompetant, so i bought mine complete from akmcables.com.
