Why isnt my PP2 working?
I just recived it today. I plugged everything in.(power source, and into the LPT1 printer port. When I run the software it comes up with a error box saying :
"The Pocket Programmer cannot be found on LPT1, LPT2, or LPT3
Make sure your power pack is plugged in."
I click "OK" the only option
and in the yellow highlighting it says The power programer was not found.
What could I have done wrong? maybe this is a faulty unit?
BTW Im using Windows 98
Thanks, Chris

I did. I tried different outlets just incase, I have also blew out the LPT1 port with compressed air. still no luck. Are these prone to be faulty? I think Im going to try it on a friends computer towmorrow.
Thanks, Chris

I've had one for about a month and it did that several times. I found that with the computer on, if I unplug the PP2 and plug it back in, then start the program it gets recognized. So now I just leave the PP2 plugged in all the time and the problem hasn't appeared even though the computer gets shut off daily. This is a desktop unit running windows. I can't get it to hook to my DOS laptop no matter what I try (unplug trick, all possible port settings, etc), so I have to do all my burning in air conditioned comfort

Me Too!
I'm sorry to hear about your PP2, but I'm glad to know you're having trouble, too!
I just got my PP2 about a week ago and it will NOT work. I messed around with the CMOS settings for the port, and just about everything else under the sun to get my computer to recognize it. I get the exact same error message as you on my Windows XP machine and my parent's Windows 2000 machine. I even downloaded the latest software.
I wonder if something is bad with a recent production batch of these programmers. I called about this, but no one will be back at Xtronics until after the 15th of August.
Please keep me posted with your progress in this issue!! I want to start messing around with my PROM, too.
