870 burn off module

am putting in a 165 to replace the 870 and was wondering if anyone has used the 870 burn off module with the 165 ecm. it looks like the module responds to something in the serial data line-A8-the 165 has serial data at the same pin, maybe too fast now for the burn module to recognize? or stop thinkin and put the relays? im aware of the reliability issues but there is less than 30k on the mas.

Your not going to use the 165's MAF?.

I've seen several sources, that differ on wheither the two MAFs are really interchangeable.

For the work, why not just bite the bullet and go 730?.

I'm using my cars original 870 MAF with the 165, I haven't seen anything that looks "odd" enough to suggest the maf isn't working correctly, then again I'm probably still dangerous enough to not fully recognize if there's a mild problem.

Either way the car has ran this way for almost a year.

i think i have the answer to the many maf question-ac delco lists 3 bosch mafs to cover all of the gm offerings that used them-i have personally interchanged all of them-with the trouble tree gm provides to diagnose them, i always start at the last step-exchange with known good unit-the only physical difference is the arrangement of the threaded bungs on the body-depending on application-firebirds got em on the side, vettes get none and on like that. functionally all are exactly alike. i too have seen the early schematic depicting mystery ground dotted lines, kind of hinting at a 6 wire setup-ever seen one? nope-model year of the diagram-1985-have i owned an 85 since it rolled out the showroom in 85?-yep. sooooo.. all i can say is i havent seen one myself. but if someone can dig up a specimen. THE ELUSIVE 6 WIRE MAF. legendary. GRUMPY-im tired of chowing on bullets-cant i have some govt. cheese tonite and go back to munitions tommorow? i am doin the 730 swap got all the parts and the wiring heinous is almost done-but this 165 ecm and dfi came along right about the time i discovered my patience limit while doing the futz about with the 870. someone should have smacked me down hard for even giving that 870 an hour. hopefully this is where progress begins.
