I had this problem when i first put winbin on my computer. If you get the error, close winbin and start over. I have to open winbin, put the files in where they go, and then click view. after the view comes up, I have to close that window,(not minimize, but close) then I can click edit and the error message will go away. I also cannot be on the internet while winbin is up, or I get an error also. hope this helps.

Try to down load it again. If you get the same message again, close winbin, and also close anything else you have running. restart winbin, then load the correct ecu and bin files and click view. Don't click edit first. After the graph thing cones up, close view, and then click edit. The second download may do it, This is what I had to do. I had the same prob for a week till I figured it out. Still cant do it when on the net, which sucks cuz id like to view available bin files.

Man, I dont know. If youve tried uninstalling, and reinstalling, maybe you lost something when it crashes, or its trying to use a driver/port thats not configured correctly. Good luck, I hope you find something. If you do, let us know.
Sorry you are having suck ****ty luck with it. The only other suggestion would be to purchase tunercat.

What version of Windows are you using? Can you try it on any other computers? I think WinBin tries to access serial ports on the computer for some reason, and gets into trouble if it can't find any.

I've looked around for the source code for this program, but no luck.

I've worked around type mismatch problems with fuel injector constants by changing the constant, saving, closing, and going to the double fire, changing, saving, closing, it changes and holds, and you dont get the error.

But I can't even get the program to load, when I pick the bin file, and ecu file i then click the edit button and wait for 4-5 sec then comes up run time error 8002 invalid port number, it then goes into the program but then sits there wont let me click on anything but the X button to close. If I wait a while the computer automaticly restarts.

Make sure your serial ports aren't disabled in the BIOS.

Well looks like I have to trash the program. I have tried everything to my knowledge and still won't work. i have already sent the money to tunercat and I will be eagerly waiting for the files. I have just got my car running tonight and it runs VERY rich at idle. it puts out a small haze and when you goo to the exhaust my eyes start to burn because of the raw fuel. Other than that it sounds sweet.

Selecting different port addresses solved this problem in my case. Open \My computer\control panel\ports\settings\advanced\IO port address\ and select a different HEX address.

I also received an error message saying 'ECU file error'. I found this to be caused by the selected type of decimal symbol. It must be a dot, not a comma. Open \My computer\control panel\regional settings\number\decimal symbol\ and select dot.

Same prob with winbin on my 2000 box, and my 98 laptop.. Why does it wish to open the serial ports???

Weird..

I noticed the last update to winbin was 11/2000.. Is it still being developed? if not, is source available?
