ECM/Harness Compatibility?

Will an 86 ECM connect to an 88 harness? This is out of my lane and I need help. Thanks.

If these are both TPI engines, yes, the ECMs are interchangeable. You should use the MEMCAL from the proper year, these are not so interchangeable between the years/engines/drivetrains. See the sticky above for what the MEMCAL is, it is located under the small cover on the top of the ECM.

Got it, thanks!

Turned out to not be an issue, decided to leave the new car alone.

Re: ECM/Harness Compatibility?

Guess I am getting old.

Plan was to put my built supercharged 357 motor and drive train into the new GTA, use my custom MEMCAL and be done with it. After picking up the GTA, I decided it is so nice I am not going to do that. I really like having AC, heat, cruise, radio, and other normal stuff that I didn't have in my Trans Am 'race car' as my wife called it.

Besides, I am tired of dealing with it to be honest. Thanks for the help!
