ms2 v3.0 for fuel only with vr tach input??

so i just finished assembling my ms2 v3.0 and i jumped it to receive a vr tach input but i will not be using ignition controlls at this time is this going to present problems?

i have a 383stroker with a single 78mm turbo with a csu blow thru carb now and a msd locked out magnetic pick up distributor with a msd 6al-2 digital programmable box with boost retard, etc, etc etc and laptop interface.

I am taking baby steps with this so i will use my ignition control for right now until i get everything else figured out (software, tunings etc) and will just use the ms to control the fuel. what would be the best code to run right now? i assembled it following the msextra guide.

any help is appreciated

Should be no problems running it that way. Don't be alarmed if you see the computer "advancing" the timing while tuning. As long as it is not hooked up to a electronic distributor it won't do anything and it won't care either. You can also set the software for fuel only which should hide all timing functions from being seen.

I personally use HEI input mod on my MSII V3 but I am using a factory distributor getting the tach reference from the ignition module.

I am running the standard firmware but I feel msextra is the way to go and I will be converting over at some point in the near future.

MS extra IS the way to go. I have MS III extra and love it. I wouldn't worry at all about tuning timing. Just throw in a base map and for spark and leave it until you are happy with you fueling tune(s). Just switch to computer controlled timing.
