Where can I get 1.x software for Holley Commander 950
![huh](https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/images/smilies/huh.gif)
1) Send the unit to holley for FW upgrade, don't know how much it will cost and how long it will take...
2) Find 1.x software
Does anyone know where I can get the old 1.x software for the commander 950?
Thanks

I called Holley and they emailed me the old software version 1.2, unfortunately it does not handle WB O2 sensor, i will have to send my Commander 950 to them for FW upgrade, they said it would cost $40 for the upgrade, not bad.

I hope your application is fairly mild, otherwise it'll be a challenge to tune without a WB connected for correction. You can obviously use a seperate system but that will make it more difficult, especially with the C950. Best of luck.

Its not that mild, I have a Vortech supercharger (7-8psi), GMPP fast burn heads, dished Probe pistons to provide about 9:1 comp ratio and comp cam with 510/520 lift and 230/236 duration. My idle is rough and at about 10"Hg.
I actually modified my ECM to accept and run with 2 Bar map but I got tired of modifying assembly language so then i tried 747 memcal and that ran much better but I could never the car to idle. I had the guy from Wester's garage try to provide me a solution but after a while he gave up too. So I went with the 950 and now the car idles, i'm using alphaN below 1500 so that appears to work.
I'm also running with 30lb injectors and that will need to changed becuase I'm approaching 90% duty cycle at about 75% throttle.
Lots of work still...

BTW I do have a WB O2 but at the moment I'm still using the NB output.

Re: Where can I get 1.x software for Holley Commander 950
It has the basic features I need, mainly to control timing and fuel under boost conditions plus I bought it on Ebay for less than $150 because the guy selling it was not sure where it came from and he could not guarantee it. So I took a chance, it turns out one of the inputs for the inductive pick up was blown, the ESD suppresor was shorted, it turns out I'm not using that input anyway. Yes I've come to realize its not the best but I need to crawl before walking so it will be a while before I exhaust its capabilities and move on to something better if I really need it, I can't bilieve data logging is limited to a couple minutes, memory is so cheap these days...

I ran a SBC with 10lbs boost with a 950. There is an old program out there for doing a self learn routine with it, but you will need to do the $40 upgrade and new software to use it. It is a great little program to get you close on the street, you just have to learn how to smooth the surrounding cells. It works best if you have someone drive while you tune with it.

Yes I do plan to send it in for FW upgrade, can you let me where I can find the self learn program you are referring to?
Couple more questions:
1) There is no provision to drive the speedometer from the C950, how is this usually handled?
2) Is there an engine driven vac pump that can fit in place of the smog pump? I'm running an electric one but it is loud and vibrates, it must go, the car is 91 firebird.
Thanks

Speedometer- aftermarket VSS box for electric or convert to cable
vac pump- you can use a mustang electric or do away with it all together, at 8lbs you really don't need a vac pump.
self learn program- let me dig out my old laptop and I will get you a copy

Ok thanks, I will look for VSS electric module.
Regarding the Vac pump, i definetly need one, my vac at idle is about 10"hg and about 6" when in drive.

I believe this is the latest
Gary
PS Just run a vacuum can for your brakes or convert to Manual brakes. All vacuum pumps are a pain, even the big bucks ones.

Re: Where can I get 1.x software for Holley Commander 950
Gary,
Thanks for the info, I will try it out.
Regarding the vacuum can, I don't think it will help since it will eventually get used up in conditions where the the brakes are applied regularly. My engine does not generate enough manifold vacuum.
BTW the electric pump vac pump I'm using is what is recommended when I looked up mustang electric pump. Its just noisy and vibrates. I thought about converting to manual brakes but this is allot of work.
I just have to find a better electric pump. Or get a good engine driven one.
