Yes, you can re-burn the EPROM. Just double check that it has a window first. In the later years GM started to use one-time-programmable PROMs.

The other half is that you need to ground pin 56 of the MEMCAL. This sets the ECM hardware for the proper injector firing rate for an 8 cylinder.

Re: 1227730 ECM question?

I also am new to the TGO, I have a 1992 350 TPI w/700r4, but what is strange is that when I pulled the ECM to look at it, the numbers on it do not match what I am seeing on this site. THe ECM is labeled 16150571 and the chip in it is labeled IRQ277, Delco AUJP T350. Is this the correct ECM for this car?

Yes, most likely the correct ECM. The AUJP is the broadcast code (BCC) of the calibration (PROM). Which is correct for a '90 - '92 L98/auto in an f-body.

Look for the "Service Number" on the ECM's label. There are three (or so) different ECM numbers that GM used.

Re: 1227730 ECM question?

What's so special about the 7730 ECM? I've seen it mentioned and people speak highly of it. I only ask because I've have one that has been sitting around collecting dust for a couple years. I've searched, but haven't found any answers. From what I remember, it's an SD ECM, right? I'll try a new search now that it's burnning a hole in my brain again lol

Re: 1227730 ECM question?

it's the most common one from the era and can run anything from a lawn mower to a wild BBC..

Yes, it's SD.

There is an upgraded version although the number has slipped my mind, It's the same thing but with more ram. You can use it to run electronic trannies as well.

Note that the MPFI maskID is $88, while the TPI maskID is $8D.
