Ecm help

Ive read over and over that the ecm from a caprice will work for my 350 tbi spap but i cant figure out if i need one from a 350 or if one from a 305 caprice will work. I looked up the part numbers and theyre the same for a 305 and a 350. Will someone please clarify for me? Thanks

Re: Ecm help

I think ....

ECM might have the same part numbers, but the chip would be different (prom). Your actual ECM is fine, you just need the prom from inside a 350 TBI car/truck to plug into your ECM. Again - I'm guessing here.

Re: Ecm help

the ecms are the same, its the chip inside thats different. the caprice 305 ecm wont be much different than what you have now. you need to know the 4 letter code. just look for an ecm from a 350 caprice.

as far as just changing chips I believe they do run the same mask ($61) as the camaro then they will swap. then you wont need the whole ecm from the caprice.

but if you plan on making more power and doing mods you have to get into tuning anyway, you could just change the settings in the ecm you have now to fit the 350 or I would just swap to a 93-95 truck tbi pcm. its a little more complicated but its more advanced.
