Calmap Gen 6 Startup

Calmap Gen 6 Startup
I have a 350cu in small block Chevy with Weiand 671 supercharger, intercooler, Blower Drive Service EFI kit 16 nozzles, user interface module, calmap 6.0 software, and MSD option to ECM. I am also using MSD 6AL.
When we went to start it fired for a few seconds and after that it would just turn over. We have spark and gas but it is not starting. I was wondering if there is something in the Calmap program that is preventing it from starting.

If it's getting the proper signals, it should run. Seems strange if you have spark and fuel. Only concern I would have is that I don't believe a Gen 6 can drive 16 nozzles, I was under assumption that 16 would burn out the relays that run them. Only other thing I can suggest is make sure that the timing is right. Can the Gen 6 "lock" the timing? If not, change your entire table from 0-2500 rpm to, say, 20* and see what happens.

are you running alpha-n (throttle angle) or do you have a map sensor and related dfi controlled sub-systems? how is the ecm wired up to handle 16 injectors? i believe that this will over-tax the drivers in the ecu and smoke it eventually. that user interface module probably isnt what you want to be running if you are looking for a spot on tune. iirc-it is a controller with a couplefew ***** on the front of it? just do all your work in calmap and ditch the uim. plus you are supercharged, not anything to be trying to dial in on the fly with the uim.

I agree with GrumpyGreaseApe. The Gen6 is only designed for 8 injectors max. The Gen7 (v6) will handle 16 injectors (high or low impedance) just fine. Wonder if you fried the output drivers.

The system that I have was built by BDS and has been out for many years. So I am not worried about the amount of injectors. I also called BDS and they told me that I was using the wrong operating system on the laptop. It has to be win98 or older.

Re: Calmap Gen 6 Startup
if you have a floppy drive on your laptop, what you need is a win98 start up disk and you will be able to access the calmap directory via dos that you should have installed with a calmap 6.32 disk. you need to start your laptop without a bunch of drivers that interfere with simple calmap operation. bds is correct-calmap 6 point whatever has been out forever-it still does not mean it can drive 16 injectors.

Re: Calmap Gen 6 Startup
when i had a older gen 6 i did a lot of searching to see if it could really handle 8 low z injectors. and it seems it can, as long as its more of a daily meaning small opening times and or drag car. make a pass and kill it, which lets the drivers cool. running something like top end runs, no, it would over work the drivers.
that was for 8 low z, so 16 high z no in peak hold should be fine for normal apps. just don't do Bonneville
