TPIPARTS.NET prom problem...
I ordered a prom from TPIPARTS.NET and deleted all emissions and upgraded injectors to 22 lb. and also changed the fan speed to 175 off, 185 on. I put the prom in as instructed. The car runs like hell with it in and the fans run constantly. Is this a tuning error??? It runs great with the stock prom in and doesn't even throw a code.

Did you make sure that its installed correctly? If their is no problem with the install it sounds like the checksum in the prom is wrong. Did you program this one your self?
When the prom is not read correctly the pcm defaults to a resistor pack to run the engine. Without the prom the car will run like crap and the fans will run all the time. So the prom is ether not installed correctly or programmed wrong.

No I'm 100% sure that I didn't install it wrong. I installed it with the chip side on both of them to the left and pushed it all the way down onto the prongs. I will call TPI parts tomorrow to see what they have to say.

Re: TPIPARTS.NET prom problem...
By saying the fans run all the time, obviously you mean they never shut-off. But for their turn-on point, do you mean: 1) the fans come on the second you turn-on the key; or 2) the fans come on when the engine temp reaches the fan's turn-on temp? Because if you're not running a lower temp stat to coordinate with the new lower temp fan turn-on, then your fans aren't likely to ever shut-off.
You can run a lower temp stat with the stock high temp fan programming, and everything will work great. But a stock high temp stat with lower-than-stock temp fan programming will result in the fans never shutting-off.
Regarding the PROM's changes, TPI.net doesn't alter the PROM's baseline. It only modifies those few things it can turn on or off, like emissions, for example, or change, like the fuel injector constant. And, AFAIK, those changes are made thru a piggy-back chip. So all the other aspects of the stock programming would've been completely untouched.
So as long as you made the appropriate changes to the engine to match the PROM's modifications(removed emissions, changed from 19lb injectors to 22lb injectors, and installed a lower temp stat), then I'd think the only thing left is that you piggy-backed the PROM backwards onto TPI.net's chip, like everyone else has mentioned.
Have you actually change the injectors? I ask because your sig makes no mention of engine modifications, yet in first post regarding the PROM changes, you said you "upgraded injectors to 22lbs." Then later you said the engine runs great with the stock PROM(which is set for 19lb injectors). So that makes me wonder if your initial statement meant you actually changed the injectors, or just the program's constant?

Re: TPIPARTS.NET prom problem...
I avent got a chance to update the sig but yes I do have 22lb injectors and a 170* AC Delco stat also. It runs good with the stock prom, its just a little rich because of the injector constant. I will try to install the piggy back again, but I am pretty sure I did it correctly. The chips both on the piggy back and stock prom face towards the left in the ecu, right??? I didnt get the best instructions with it.

Re: TPIPARTS.NET prom problem...
They offered to return $30 of the $65 I paid for it...lol. I sent it back to get reprogrammed for a backup since I am getting it tuned by Alvin at PCM for Less. Maybe it will be right when I get it back.
