Wiring harness swap
OK need more info. I have an 87 Camaro engine I pulled out, it's a TPI with MAF, and I am looking to drop it in the 1990 Firebird Formula and I need some info. The formula was originally TBI but has a custom harness in it now(that will be removed), I am looking for a 1990-92 stock SD harness to put in the car. Are there any connectors that will need to be modified to connect it to the 87 engine? I know the TPS and IAC are the same, but how about the other sensors? Do they have the same connectors or will I need to buy different sensors for the motor? It also looks like they may have gone to a different distributor setup between 87 and 90. The camaro was an automatic, and the firebird is stick, do I need a harness that has connectors for the T5 trans, or are they the same between auto and stick?(The auto should have a neutral safety switch, but I'm sure that can be wired to bypass. Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and I am swapping the serpentine setup from the 90 car onto the 87 motor before I drop it in.
Can I use the computer from the 87 camaro, will it have the same connectors for the Dash and the engine bay?
Thank you all in advance,
Gary Gaenzle
P.S. Feel free to ask any questions about the setup, I don't mind repeating myself, and I'm sure I've missed something in the description anyway.
