ALDL cable for my 445 ECM

I'm thinking on making a cable for my car. I'm going to make the "Simple ALDL-lotus esprit" heres a link it's the 2nd one down.https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/diy-...cable+165+aldl
Now with the 165 ecm's a 10k resistor has to be in the A B terminals for a higher transfer rate but I don't have the 165 anymore, I have the 445 and the 445 is the same as the 165 but newer and updated at least thats what pandin says here https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...wrong-ecm.html

My other question is will this wire work with TunerPro RT? If I need the 10K resistor for higher transfer rate the car will go in to ALDL mode and idle higher and other things but if I take it out after the laptop is connected will the car go out of ALDL mode but still have the higher transfer rate? I heard this from somewhere but I forget where.

One more question could I run the 12V power source from pin F or pin C? Because they put out 12V.

You will need the 10K to connect. Once connected remove the resistor.

For power pull it from either the cig lighter or the fuse block. The B+ you found on the ALDL connector is only because that device is not active. Once activated the B+ will suddenly become ground.

That could explain why my wire is not working right hehe.

I decided to go with the winaldl cord and that has no data wire going back to the ecm. Do I need the data wire going back?

I don't understand the question. You need to pick up the data pin at the ALDL connector.

Re: ALDL cable for my 445 ECM

The link I have up top shows two schematics the top one is the one I went with but I have the 12v outside power source. the seconded one shows a wire going back to the data wire to send data to the ecm. Do I need that? I don't think I do but I wanna make sure.

Winaldl seems to be connecting when I have the 10K resistor in but when I take it out it stops working.and Tunerpro wont connect at all. I'm trying to use 1227165_6E.ads is that the right definitions? the other is 1227165_160baud and that seems very incomplete and it says its connected even when the cable is not connected... maybe I have to download the right definitions somewhere?

You mean DTR (data terminal ready)? Don't need that if using an external 12 volt supply.

No I'm talking about pin 3 on the DB9 connector I'm looking at the "Simple ALDL - lotus esprit" schematic. See how the arrow points out as if data is going back to the ecm?

Do you have any idea why its not connecting to Turnerpro RT?

Re: ALDL cable for my 445 ECM

You need to have a ALDL circuit that is bi-directional. So whichever one you choose it needs to use both pins 2 & 3 on the DB9 connector.

Re: ALDL cable for my 445 ECM

Thanks that's just what I needed to know. I should have told you I ended up using the winaldl schematic instead of saying the top schematic sorry about that. I will add that to my cable to make it bi-directional. Hopefully after that TunerPro can connect.
