ALDL Connection Troubles
I've been trying to get my ALDL cable to read data out of my T/A since it doesn't start and I want to try and get some data from the car. I bought the cable from Mastach, so it has four pins to be connected. The instructions have me using the pins in the picture. I have all the pins but the blue one connected. My car is an 87 GTA, so I set the ECM to 165 and the data to 4800, but the only data I get is 122 across the CT row and a flashing red 5 at the top. That happens with COM1. My cable only passes the ALDLTest on COM4. WinALDL won't read off of COM4. I have disabled all other COM ports (bluetooth, printer) I disabled modems, everything I can think of. I have tried running it on just my battery and on the power cord, nothing. Can anybody tell me exactly what pins should be where (maybe his instructions are wrong) and what settings WinALDL should have. Thanks

Re: ALDL Connection Troubles
Man, I feel your pain here. I am trying to learn how to use the winaldl program and my cable too. I wished they would post a useful thread at the top of this forum page for just this type of thing. I got my cable to read data from raw data only but nothing else and the car is running like crap and will shut down at lower rpms. Maybe somebody can help with this back at the top again.

Re: ALDL Connection Troubles
If you're talking about the cable from Mastach, I'd say go with it. I got mine to work by sending the guy a message. He said to try and use all four connections (red, white, blue, black) and it worked. That was on my '87 GTA, stock ECM. Since my car currently isn't running, I was only able to read raw data when the key is in the "on" position, though. It did work with WinALDL on my cousin's '88 GTA during a drive.
